Summer Wrap-up at Westfield Washington Public Library

Summer is winding down and we are taking a moment to reflect on another memorable season here at WWPL!

“Color Our World,” our 2025 Summer Reading Program, was a huge success, and it kept everyone very busy during the months of June and July. We had 3,243 patrons participate in the Summer Reading Program this year, reading a combined total of 3,338,354 minutes (55,639 hours) which is no small feat!

929 people completed the program and there were 23,928 digital drawing tickets entered for 96 drawing prizes. (That’s a lot of tickets and a lot of prizes!) We hosted 218 library programs and welcomed a total of 5,683 attendees, and this was just in June and July!

As our community continues to grow rapidly, we are also frequently issuing new library cards. In June and July our busy circulation staff issued 1,176 new Evergreen library cards.

Books and library items are transited to and from all the 207 Evergreen libraries in Indiana, and WWPL transited 115,700 items in June and July. 36,509 visitors visited our library in June and July, and our building had 766 reserved room uses (with 3,337 people using them) during those two months.

Staff at the Children’s and Adult Desks answered at least 2,893 patron questions during June and July, and we would guess that the Circulation Desk staff answered just as many!

If you were one of our many visitors over the summer, we hope you enjoyed your time here, whether it was attending a program, utilizing a room or the Makerspace, or browsing the shelves. As we like to say, Westfield Washington Public Library is more than a collection of books. We foster exploration, discovery and growth by connecting children, teens and adults to resources and programs designed for them. Serving our Westfield community is a privilege and we look forward to continuing to provide resources, information, entertainment, and educational opportunities for our growing population!
