Once upon a time…

In a burgeoning Indiana community, the Westfield Washington Public Library began in 1856 with just 100 books, 1 reading room and a lecture space. After closing during the Civil War, the library got a fresh start in 1883 and has continued to grow ever since.

Our humble roots took us from being in a small storeroom to dedicated buildings and repeated expansions to meet the growing community’s demand.

Today, WWPL has more than 32,000 square feet and over 100,000 items in circulation. But another expansion is in the works! In the spring of 2024, we look forward to moving into our new 43,000 square foot building in the heart of downtown Westfield.

Have a question?

We’re happy to help. Send us a question using the form below.

  • How do I get a library card?

Simply come into the library and sign up at the Circulation Desk. Please note our library card policies:

    • Must be a resident or property owner in Westfield-Washington Township.
    • Adults and students 18 and up must show proof of current address and bring a photo ID.
    • Children ages 17 and under must have a responsible adult sign the registration card and show proof of address.
Keep in mind, adults assume liability for items checked out by a minor child.
    • First-time library cards are issued free of charge.
    • You can submit your registration form in advance online to speed up the process.
    • If you’re a temporary resident in the library district for 1-12 months, a special one-year card can be issued.
  • How do I reset my PIN/password?

Visit the Information Desk and we’d be happy to help. Or you can reset your PIN/password through Evergreen using the barcode number on the back of your library card. A reset link will be sent to the email address associated with your account.

  • Do you take donations?

Yes, we accept donations of materials at the Information Desk. Please review the Donation Policies for details. Currently, we are requesting that donations be limited to one box or bag at a time. If items are not quite suitable for our collection, they may be sold through the Friends of the Library book sale which benefits the library. Thanks for thinking of us!

  • Does the library have tax forms and tax appointments?

Yes, we receive a limited number of federal tax forms and instruction booklets to distribute for free each year. We also have a small amount of state tax instruction booklets you can borrow. If you need other state or federal forms, our staff can help you download and print them here (cost is .10 per black and white page).

Also, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers provide on-site and virtual tax assistance free of charge to anyone (but with a focus on taxpayers ages 50 or over with low to moderate income). Appointments can be made at the Information Desk.

  • How do I reserve a study or meeting room?

Reservations can be made at least 24 hours in advance online or by contacting the Information Desk (317.896.9391). Don’t forget to review the Community-Room-Policies and Small-Meeting-Room-Policies.

  • Do you have a fax machine?

Yes, we have a fax machine located in the Computer Lab. It costs .25 per page.

  • Do you have a notary?

No, unfortunately we don’t offer a notary service to the public.

  • What does Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges mean?

Reciprocal Borrowing is an agreement WWPL has with the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) and Hamilton East Public Library System (HEPL) in Fishers and Noblesville. That means if you have a WWPL library card, you can borrow materials from CCPL and HEPL. And library card holders of CCPL and HEPL can borrow materials from us.

Please note, Evergreen Indiana Libraries materials, electronic items, databases and interlibrary loans are excluded from Reciprocal Borrowing. For more information, check out the Hamilton County Reciprocal Borrowing Rules and Regulations.
