WWPL Summer Reading Program Begins

Unearth a Story , our 2026 Summer Reading Program, begins on June 1, and registration is now open. This 8-week program will run from June 1 – July 31.

Open to all ages, participants can register by visiting wwpl.beanstack.org, or by using the Beanstack app on their mobile device, and then begin logging reading minutes. The program is completed after 40 hours of reading (or listening), and incentive prizes will be distributed to readers throughout the 8-week program, as they reach specific milestones.

Generous community sponsors have donated a wide variety of items for drawing prizes, and additional financial support for the program has come from The Westfield Library Foundation and The Friends of the Westfield Library. We also received a very generous gift from STAR Financial Bank that is funding many of our summer programs.  Our community sponsors are listed on the Beanstack page, and we greatly appreciate their support.

The summer calendar is packed with programs and special events, beginning on Monday, June 1, with a live music performance from Jump & Hop, one of Indiana’s premier party entertainment groups. Jason Kollum, a stilt walker and juggler, will entertain us that same day, and he will also be presenting his Great Big Bubble Show that afternoon. Other summer programs include a return of the Whalemobile (June 18), a live animal show with Silly Safaris (June 23), Rick Crosslin’s Science Spectacular (June 24), a Foam Party (June 29), and Digging into Science with Professor Steve (June 25 and July 24). Feller Express will be at the library with their life-sized dinosaurs on June 10, and David Fisher, the Rope Warrior, will be here on July 27.

We will welcome children’s author, Troy Cummings, on June 19, and children’s author, Rob Harrell, on July 22. Adult author events this summer will include Meg Waite Clayton on July 28, Jacqueline Friedland on August 12, and Craig Fehrman on August 25.

Our regular Story Time programs will also continue throughout the summer months. STEM programs, wildlife programs, and Makerspace programs are planned for all ages, along with teen craft programs, fantasy map making, video gaming, book groups, and much more. Recurring adult library programs will also continue through the summer.

These are just some of our summer offerings and you can find a complete list of programs by visiting tinyurl.com/WWPLevents or perusing the Summer OWWN Guide. Find both of these on our website under the News & Events tab.

We anticipate another summer of enthusiastic participation, and we look forward to tallying up millions of minutes read by our Westfield community. Sign up now for Unearth a Story and let’s read together this summer!
