    Ages 18/up

    Mahjong, a game that originated in China, is commonly played by four players. Similar to the Western card game rummy, mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. Join other players here at the library for a game, or just observe if you are interested in learning how to play. During Tuesdays sessions, we will have a staff member on hand to instruct new players!

  • Rooted Movement Series: Movement for a Healthier Life (opens in new tab)

    Movement supports nearly every part of our health, from strength and mobility to balance, energy, and independence. In this interactive session, physical therapist Taylor Eichenberger, PT, DPT, will share practical ways to incorporate more movement into everyday life without needing a complicated exercise routine. Participants will leave with simple, realistic strategies to help them feel better, move more confidently, and stay active in the things they enjoy.

  • STEAM Kids: Sink or Float? (opens in new tab)

    10:00am – 10:45am Program 1B, Read & Roam Garden — Zone 1 - Library, Read & Roam Garden — Zone 3 - Open Lawn

    Ages 5-8

    Children will investigate the science of buoyancy by making predictions and testing whether objects sink or float. Through observation, experimentation, and engineering design, they will discover how an object's shape and material affect its ability to float. For ages 5-8. Caregivers may stay and participate if they wish. Children who are comfortable attending independently may do so.

    Ages 4-12

    Practice reading to a friendly dog who is a very good listener! Research shows that therapy dogs can help to reduce anxiety as well as improve focus and attention span. Therapy dogs serve as a calm presence and allow children to work to improve literacy, comprehension, and communication with a nonjudgmental listener. Registration required for your 15-minute session.

    Please arrive 10 minutes before your session if you need to pick out a book, then check-in at the Children's Desk!
